Cal Memorial Stadium Benches Made from Authentic Wood Seating and Stanchions

California Memorial Stadium 1923-2010 Benches

Continue to celebrate the history of Memorial Stadium. These in home/patio benches are repurposed and handcrafted from the authentic bench wood and stanchions of the two end zones of the stadium. Because these original materials are from the most curved sections, the crooked aspects are as integral to authenticity as are the originally engraved seat numbers on the bench wood.

This is a limited edition item. Only 250 benches will be produced. Each bench comes with a full color Certificate of Authenticity Booklet.

Mud Room Bench: Seats 2, 34 inches long - $500 + $80 s/h
Classic Bench: Seats 3, 51 inches long - $650 + $100 s/h
Picnic Table Bench: Seats 4, 68 inches long - $775 + $150 s/h

Length based on 17” per stadium seat. The actual length of each bench may vary slightly but we ensure each bench has 2, 3, or 4 seat lengths as indicated by the originally engraved stadium seat numbers.

Most Dijon bench wood paint may be extremely chipped as these were extracted from Section CC. Cleat-wearing team players – fulfilling a practice tradition – used the seats of these rows as their stairs to reach the field.

Stanchions
All stanchions are original. Many benches have one stanchion in its original position. Since the distance between stanchions may have been 90” or more in the stadium, often the second stanchion is fit to accommodate requested bench size. Some benches may be constructed from stanchions in which neither are in their original placements.

The stanchion maintained in its original position is often at a slight angle in relation to the bench wood. The second stanchion is bolted parallel to the first such that the bench is flat and not torqued. Therefore, both stanchions may be parallel to each other but may not be parallel to the bench wood.

Most of the bolts and washers are original. While we were not able to salvage 100% and some benches may have new hardware, we were able to antique the new hardware and thus it is not severely noticeable.

Feet
Two new handcrafted steel and cherry wood feet are attached to each bench. Pads are added to the bottom of each foot to protect any floor surface.
